Our neighborhood protection goals include:

• Work to ensure that Blueprint Denver will be implemented in 2009
• Blueprint zoning information
• Demolitions and “In Memoriam” will be published in community papers
• Reasons for “non-historic designations” will be obtained and published

Blueprint Denver – Adopted in 2002, implementation was scheduled for 2003 – Over five years later, Denver City Council has still not executed the plan.

Blueprint Zoning Information 

 

1.      We will report on the purpose and progress of The New Zoning Code.

2.      We will introduce the context and form-based approach.

3.      We will demonstrate how these approaches better support Denver's adopted plans like Blueprint Denver. 

4.      We will describe how the new code will be easier to use and understand.

 

Until Blueprint Denver is implemented, neighborhoods can protect themselves by changing their zoning from scrape-offs of beloved old homes, and construction of multiplexes and large scale development.Several neighborhoods have done so in 2008: Sloan’s Lake, West Highlands, South Park Hill, West Washington Park. Other neighborhoods are going through this process.
